U2 Concert Setlist Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA, USA 2009 | setlist.fm

Still gathering my thoughts. Here is the set list from last nights show.

U2 Concert Setlist Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA, USA 2009 setlist.fm

Now that I have time to reflect, review and remember the U2 show at The Rose Bowl, here are my thoughts:

For being a concert for the masses, the people seemed to be well behaved. Great positive energy, yet a lot of consuming! What else are you to expect from a U2 concert?

The Rose Bowl was not too bad getting in and out. Only because Preffered parking was obtained and we had to leave midway through that final song, "Moment of Surrender". We normally don't leave under any circumstances, but the baby sitter and work the next day gave us a good excuse. Bono has to understand this!

The show was well rehearsed and went well with out a hitch, except for brief feed-back on one song (truely can't remember which one :-) ). It really helps when you know what songs a band will play. They played almost the same set as Las Vegas and Arizona shows. Thank you Setlistfm.com! This was necessary for the potty breaks, ha ha ha! The first song that grabbed everyone's attention was "I still haven't found what I'm looking for". Great crowd sing along! This led right into "Stand by me" which was just pure magic! The next gem from the Joshua Tree disc was "Where the streets have no name" with Bono belting out " Amazing Grace". Simply said that most none believers were brought to their knees.

The new songs just kicked butt, bottom line. They opened up with "Breathe" and it got the L.A. up and going. The rest of the set didn't display any of the songs from "Boy" or "October". That was really something I (we) really wanted, but oh well. This was to be expected being that the show was being broadcasted on YouTube and had been strictly rehearsed.

The stage was just phenominal...It really looked as if a spaceship landed in Pasadena. How cool was this for the guys in the band that the JPL is just a stones throw away? The feed from the Space Station was really cool, too! The sound was really good for being the Rose Bowl. The gentle echoes seemed to work really well for this show. The lighting was spectacular. Picture that the Rose Bowl for most of the night was highlighted with red lights and dim blue. What a great effect!

Overall, this was a truely EPIC event and we are soooooo glad that we made it. Even better, a DVD should be on the way before Christmas. Until Anahiem in June 2010, guys!

Pearl Jam Set List Gibson Amphitheater 10-07-09

Now that I've had a few days to reflect, research, and remember the final performance of the legendary rock group, Pearl Jam. This happens to be only the second time I've seen these guys. The first was at The Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, on the last tour.
The Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City was far superior in acoustic sonic pleasure. Very intimate setting, and the crowd was literally on FIRE!
They opened with the slow and alluring "Long Road", which made me happy. I was hoping for "Release me", but this was just as wonderful. They stormed thru a few more to the wicked sounding "Got some". Boy, we needed it. Thanks Eddie! "Amongst the waves" was really hot, especially Ed's intro regarding the documentry film, "The Cove". I wasn't very familar with "Present Tense", but that intro with Mike and Eddie just blew me away! I caught a little bit of it on my handheld, but for the sake on true enjoyment, I turned it off and just let this song just sink in. I really expected "Just breathe", but when "The end" was thrown in, this was pure magic! Picture that the evening was in a full tilt frenzie, and here comes the first encore. Just a cool sit down and catch your breath for the next 40+ minutes of sing (shout) along music. The rest of encore 1 was literally one of the best almost endings shows that might ever be. This show had a Led Zeppelin feel all the way. Pearl Jam is THE Led Zepp of this generation, hands down. My personal favorite (if a gun was put to my head to make only one!) had to be "Crown of thorns" I got only about half of it on video, due to a security foil...but oh well! At least I captured "Indifference" with Ben Harper. This last song put this show in one of the CLASSICS of rock shows.
Thanks Sean for driving!
